We took our first trip as a family of 4 to Telluride, Colorado. Big mama, G-dad, and Nana also joined us. I wish our trip had started on a better note, but instead it was the most horrible ride to the airport I have ever had! First we all know how Texas handles snow and ice, which is not very well! With the Super Bowl coming to town and a wintery mix of ice and snow, you would think that around the DFW area and major interstates would be cleared for incoming travelers. Well, they (TxDOT) seemed to have forgotten about I-20. Ryan and his dad started off on Friday early in the morning driving to Telluride with all our gear, while me, the girls, my mom and Lisa were going to drive to Dallas on Saturday and fly to Telluride. My dad graciously offered to give us a ride to the airport. After Ryan telling us that the roads were not that good and it took them 5hrs to get to Arlington, we decided to head out Friday afternoon in hopes of beating the water from refreezing on the roads. We left around 3 that afternoon. Once we hit Canton, it was a parking lot, literally. We spent somewhere around 4hrs in the car in Canton! It was ridiculous. It ended up taking us 9 1/2 hrs to arrive in Arlington at 1:30 in the morning. Once we hit Dallas proper the roads were much better, but outside of that they were horrible. The girls didn't sleep very well after that and I certainly didn't get any sleep. We did successfully make our plane and arrived in Telluride tired, but safe.
The horrendous trip to Telluride threw off the girls sleep schedule the entire week. This is why it has taken me so long to get this post up because I have spent the entire week we have been back trying to get Heather back into her routine.
We still had a lot of fun. My mom doesn't ski so she stayed at the condo and watched the girls. Telluride is a beautiful place and a huge ski area.
One of the pharmacists I used to work with was also skiing that week in Telluride, so it was a lot of fun to join Pete and ski a few runs.

Our condo was a ski in/ ski out that was right on a bunny slope trail with a little area used for kids ski school. Brooke loved to watch the little kids skiing across the trail and was constantly saying, "Try it"! This was delightful for us to hear since we planned on trying to get her to ski on our "off" day. We found some kids skis that just strap on to their snow boots for a cheap price in town. We couldn't wait to get Brooke on her skis and see how well she would do. She loved playing with the skis inside the condo. With images of her giggling and sliding down the trail in our head, we got her prepped and ready to put on her skis. She had be excited about 'trying it' all morning!
Once her feet were actually in the skis, it was nothing but tears! We were shocked and dismayed by this. We didn't want to instill any bad memories, so we quickly took off the skis and put them away.
Brooke loved sledding! Now if her mittens were only gloves so she could hold on to the grips better.
Here are a few of the many gorgeous pictures Ryan took from our condo!
Yay! I've been waiting on Colorado pictures!! What a beautiful place! Sounds like you guys had a fun time and I'm so thankful you all made it safe there and back! Poor little Brooke with her skiing experience but sounds like she had a blast with daddy and on the sled!
